My name is Holly Jefferis and I am an information junkie with a knack for public relations. As a soon-to-be college grad, I am exploring all aspects of the industry- whether it’s food, entertainment, lifestyle or tech, I want to know about it.
Along with being a student at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication, I am a member of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), and I am an account executive for Allen Hall Public Relations, a student-run PR agency. Throughout my college experience, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with an exceptional group of students and staff who have inspired me to reach outside my comfort zone and hone in on my communication skills.
After applying for several internships my junior year, I finally landed a communications internship with the Eugene Police Department where I develop social media campaigns on crime prevention. I also work with the department and the victims to conduct interviews and produce videos. Additionally, I am the new communications intern for the Springfield Public School District, where I work closely with the communications team on various projects for schools in the district. Being a Springfield High School graduate with a passion for PR, I couldn’t resist the chance to work with the schools that provided me with so many opportunities growing up.
Even though my schedule is jam packed with school, work and activities, I feel fortunate to have opportunities that allow me to gain real-world experience as an undergrad. Whenever I have down time, I am hanging out with friends and family, experimenting with new recipes, or scrolling through Pinterest to find the latest and greatest food and lifestyle tips.
